Leucorrhea is a condition in which a woman develops vaginal swelling or mucous in the vaginal area. She then discharges yellowish white substance that leads to foul smell. It is a type of infection that is developed during pregnancy and a woman develops inflammation. It is a type of virginities that is caused due to infection from a fungus called Candida. So, if a woman has developed this disease during pregnancy, she should take care and visit a doctor as soon as possible.
Cause for leucorrhea during pregnancy
This problem is caused during pregnancy due to stimulation of oestrogen in the body. It is mainly caused due to increase of blood flow towards vagina. Leucorrhea may also refer to healthy vaginal discharge. If the colour of the discharged substance is white, or if it consists of mild odour, then a woman need not worry. If the discharge is yellowish, then she should consult a doctor.
Usually during the first trimester, a woman undergoes vaginal discharge called leucorrhea or during the early stage of second trimester. A leucorrhea pregnant woman should examine the following points.
She should first determine if the discharge during her pregnancy is normal.
The discharge should be white, milky or not foul smelling, and then the discharge is normal during her pregnancy.
So, a woman should take care of herself during pregnancy. She should not use tampons during this period, because it can create new germs. She should not use douche because it can disturb the normal functioning in the body. A woman should always consult doctor if she is experiencing any problem, but should not use any medications or creams to cure the problem.
To take care, she should always use pantry liners so that she can feel comfortable.
When it is considered abnormal?
Leucorrhea during pregnancy is normal when the discharge is greenish or yellowish, then it is considered abnormal. It produces foul smell and is accompanied by itching or redness. Then, a woman has developed yeast infection. Another reason for the abnormal discharge is due to STD. A woman suffers from yeast infection if the level of acid or yeast becomes excess. The reasons for the yeast infection are hormonal changes, consuming birth control pills, consuming steroids, or vaginal intercourse.
The doctors usually recommend various creams that should be applied to that area. Such creams are prescription Terazol, Monistat, Vagistat, Gyne-Lotrimin, and it should be applied to the affected area. It should be applied to the vulva and the woman should meet doctor at least once a week. Some of the medications that are prescribed by doctor are Diflucan, Nystatin, Sparonox, or Nizoral. These creams should be applied to the area to be relieved from itching and use one dose of oral medication.
This infection should be prevented by following the tips:
They should avoid wearing synthetic fibre clothes or girdles. They should preferably wear cotton panties and wear clothes that are regularly dried. After exercises the clothes become sweaty and these clothes should be immediately removed.
A woman should follow a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy and hence she does not experience any problem anytime.
