Things you Should Know Before Moving from New Zealand to Australia

People often regard Australia as being not so different from New Zealand. While that is true to an extent, you will notice striking differences that can take a little while getting used to. Both the Aussies and the Kiwis love their wine. The nightlife is very similar too, and the local folks just as friendly. The quality of life is just about the same in both and law enforcement is just as great in Melbourne as it is in Wellington. When you are considering the differences between the two, it all boils down to individual preferences. If you are, however, moving to Melbourne from Wellington, here are some striking differences you will notice easily.

Melbourne is much Bigger!

You’ve probably read about it, but you’ll still be shocked when you experience it. Moving from a city with 400,000 inhabitants to one with nearly 5 million (more than New Zealand’s population) can take some time to get used to. Unlike Wellington, where you can reach most parts of the city on foot, you’ll need transport to get around Melbourne. With a population density almost twice that of Wellington (1560 inhabitants / km² compared to 890 people / km²), you may feel uncomfortable moving around for a while.

Wages in Melbourne are Relatively Higher

This may sound surprising but Melbourne pays far better than Wellington. While full-time work hardly copes with all bills in New Zealand, if you work full time in Melbourne, you can take care of all your bills and have enough time to play. This difference is probably due to the fact that Australia is more developed than New Zealand in terms of the social development index.

The Cost of Living in Wellington is Higher

Well, that’s the first thing you’ll notice after settling in Melbourne. Apart from higher wages in Melbourne, the cost of living in the city is much lower than in Wellington. Transportation prices are much higher and some basic groceries cost more in Wellington than in Melbourne. While the rent in Melbourne may be slightly higher, the city compensates for the earnings. Post-tax pay is much higher in Melbourne, and local purchasing power is also higher.

It’s Easier to find Secure Accommodation in Melbourne

Although this is doubtful, most people who moved to Melbourne from New Zealand said that it was easier for them to find an apartment than those who moved to Wellington from Australia. You may have to pay a higher rent than New Zealand, but finding good accommodation won’t be difficult unless you’re on a very limited budget. In Wellington, good accommodation is considered a luxury because of the high prices, but in a place like South Australia this is easy to find. However, you may be introduced to Strata Management SA when you’re there, as good accommodation needs strata services to take care of it.

It is Much Easier to find a Job in Melbourne

This may sound surprising given that Melbourne is a much larger city than Wellington, but it’s really much easier to find a job in the former than in the capital of New Zealand. Because Melbourne is a large city, there are many qualified job candidates. However, unlike in New Zealand, you can get a job in the city without a university degree. Australia also has a generally higher employment rate than New Zealand – you rarely need recruitment services.

The Weather is much less Unpredictable than in Wellington

Due to stereotypes, people think that Melbourne has very unpredictable weather. Although this is largely true because the city can experience four seasons in one day, it turns out that the weather is more stable than in Wellington. Wellington is the windiest city in the world and has very low temperatures, which makes Melbourne feel like heaven. A bit more warmth in the summer will not hurt, and winter in Melbourne is bearable

Telecom Companies Offer Better Service than in Wellington

If you have gotten used to the phone service offered by Telco companies in New Zealand, you might find better service in Australia a bit surprising. Telecom companies in Australia offer fantastic data plans with unlimited texting, calling and other mouth-watering offers. Sometimes you may even be lucky to get all these at a very much cheaper rate than the poor service offered in New Zealand.

Besides these eight differences, there are other ones you may notice too. The Aussie accent might take a little getting used to. You will definitely miss the mountains in and around Wellington, even though you have amazing beaches to make up for it. If you are yet to ship to Australia from NZ, in order for these differences to not overwhelm you too much, you should consider going through a checklist and hiring a moving company.

Best wishes!

When To Replace Brake Rotors

If you’re experiencing brake issues, the most likely culprits are worn-out brake pads. After that, your front brake calipers and rotors can also affect your braking performance. Learn more about the signs of damaged rotors and determine whether it’s time to repair or replace these essential components.

Signs of Dishing

A common issue with worn-down brake rotors is dishing. Heavy wear starts to bow your rotor and make it curl at the lip, like a dish. Wait until your rotors are completely cool and touch them to see how the outer edge feels. Your brake pads work best when pressed firmly against a flat, smooth surface, so any amount of dishing can create uneven wear and decreased performance in your brake pads.

Hot Spots

Overheated rotors create blue rings and spots. This is due to extreme temperatures, typically caused by a sticking brake caliper or brake pads. Hot spots are weak spots, so these marks can easily lead to cracks in your brake rotors. They may also produce pulses as you try to brake. A hot spot is difficult to remove, but is a serious issue that needs to be monitored.

Rust, Warping and Other Issues

Rotors are exposed to extreme stresses as you drive. Over time, it’s common for your rotor to become rusted, warped, cracking or have other issues. Surface rust and minor warping may not be a severe issue, but all of these imperfections can reduce the lifespan of your brake pads and reduce your stopping power. Some affect brake pads more than others, while some issues may result in a sudden loss of your entire brake system. Don’t wait until a minor issue becomes an emergency, but find out today how you can restore your brakes.

Replace or Resurface

You have two basic options to restore your full rotor performance: replacing or resurfacing. There are many pros and cons to each one, depending on the type of rotor you have and what the specific issue is. Consider getting a brake job quote to determine which is more affordable for your vehicle.

Resurfacing involves a technician removing your rotors and using precision tools to grind away the surface layer. Once this is done, your rotor will have a smooth, like-new service. Older rotors could be resurfaced many times before they became too thin to use safely. Newer rotors, particularly affordable options, typically use thinner designs and may not be able to be resurfaced multiple times.

Some rotor damage cannot be fixed by resurfacing. A large crack, penetrating rust or extreme warping may all be better off resolved by replacing rather than repairing. A replacement rotor ensures precision machining and a smooth, error-free surface for your brake pads. Depending on your vehicle and your investment, replacement rotors may be more affordable than resurfacing services.

Find Affordable Brake Rotors Today

Receive a quote and compare the cost of rotors at a local auto parts store to determine the best course of action. Compare brake pads cost and rotor cost to discover an affordable way to restore your braking system. Shop for quality replacement parts online or at a local store to enjoy warranty coverage and years of reliable braking power.

Does Home Insurance Cover You in the Event of a Burglary?

Having to deal with a break-in can be frustrating, frightening and downright depressing. You might have been at work, school or away on vacation and came home to realize that someone broke into your house. Unfortunately, burglary happens and even in the safest of areas, your property may still be vulnerable. For this reason, it’s important to understand if your home owner’s insurance covers burglaries and if so, what amount it’ll pay out if this unfortunate event happens to you.

Understanding Your Policy

First, you need to be fully aware of your insurance policy. While it can be easy to eliminate coverage in an attempt to save money on monthly premiums, you may be leaving yourself vulnerable to high costs if your house is ever broken into. Understand your coverage and speak with your broker to determine if you’re currently protected in the event of theft. You can even get insurance quotes for your house when taking out a new policy, and these quotes will often outline what’s included within the policy itself.

Dwelling Coverage

Dwelling coverage specifically helps to pay for damage to the property in the event of a burglary. Let’s say that the thief breaks windows and damages door frames when trying to get into the residence. This coverage can help to get these repairs done so that your home is back to normal once the event is over. This prevents you from having to shell out a lot of money just to make the repairs on your own.

Personal Property Protection

This protection helps to replace items that might have been stolen after the criminal has left the property. The thief might have stolen jewelry, electronics and money before fleeing the area. This can leave your family high and dry if you don’t have coverage available to replace these items. You may need to have receipts available or proof that you owned the items, so it’s a good idea for you to work with your provider to have this information available.

Your Insurance Deductible

The vast majority of insurance policies have some type of deductible attached to the plan that you’ve taken out. The deductible is what you’re responsible for paying before the coverage actually kicks in. For instance, if you have one that is $2,000 per year, you have to have enough damage to surpass that $2,000 before you’re covered by your insurance company and policy. If the damages that your house has sustained are less, you’re going to be left paying for the repairs on your own. It’s always good to have an emergency fund set up to factor in deductible amount so you’ll have the accessible cash when you’re in need.

Filing a Claim

If you are the victim of a burglary, the first step is to contact your local police department. They will come out to your residence and assess the damage and file a report. This report is going to be necessary when filing a claim with your insurance provider. Take photos of any and all damage around the property and provide this to your insurance agent. In some cases, you’ll need to make immediate repairs to the home, like installing new windows to replace broken ones, before the claim is complete. In this case, the coverage provider will compensate you once the claim has been approved and submitted.

How You Can Plan the Best Party Weekend for Friends or Family

Planning a party can be quite a challenge, and even the most seasoned party planners know that if anything can go wrong, it will. But if you are in charge of planning and preparing for a party, especially a party weekend, you can get a lot of help when it comes to know-how, thanks to experts who are willing to share top tips and ideas. The great thing about party weekends is that once you arrive at your chosen place, ideally, you will have time to prepare a bit more for the party, and you don’t have to worry about going back home – you can party the night away and then sleep it off in one of the bedrooms, and so can more than a few of your guests, if the party house is big enough. But where do you start planning, and what should you prioritise? Here’s how you can plan the best party weekend for friends or family.

C:\Users\Admin\Downloads\champagner-1071356_1920.jpg

Plan the guest list and look for your venue

The key is to think and plan ahead, and if you take care of things in advance, you need not worry about them any longer. First off, make your list of guests. Who are you planning to invite, and how many? How many are you expecting to spend the weekend at the party house? Once you have made your potential guest list, you can start looking for the ideal weekend place based on the number of guests you will have. Look for party houses to rent online, which can provide you with more than a few choices, but make sure it’s in a good location, has the best size for your party, and has the amenities and features you want.

Plan your party theme

This is also the best time to plan a party theme, so if you decide on a theme, you can make, borrow, or buy whatever decorations you need. Choosing a theme is easy; you can go for themes which range from a 1920s ‘Great Gatsby’ theme to an all-black weekend party, or even a Halloween-themed party (even if it’s not Halloween season). You can also choose a theme that’s not related to clothing or costumes – think of a beer-tasting party or a wine-tasting party, and chocolate-tasting is also a brilliant idea. Of course, if you want something more casual, you don’t have to decide on any theme; just a simple gathering of friends or family will already make for a fabulous weekend.

Send off your invites and confirm them

You can then send off your invites and confirm the number of attendees. Even if not everyone can make it, there may be a few guests who want to bring a friend or partner along, so you should rest easy if it looks like you don’t have enough party guests.

Plan the party menu

Once you confirm the attendees, plan the party menu. If you are having your party catered, start looking for a good food and drink caterer. If you are bringing food to the location, it’s also best to prepare it in advance – freeze food that can be frozen and do some prep work at home. If you are placing orders for takeaway, find out which places can supply you with food in the nearby area when the time comes. It’s also a good idea to order ahead from your bakery or delicatessen if you are thinking of breakfast the next day. Happy planning, and have fun!

CBD Oils For Cats That Are Too Cute To Ignore

Who in the world doesn’t get captivated by fiendish little furballs that are too self-absorbed to care about their owners?

Yep. If it isn’t obvious enough, I’m talking about cats – those self-proclaimed royals that always seem to look at you with a condescending face. Truly, these little brats act so high and mighty all the time that you don’t really know who the real owner around the house is! Hey, is it even still your house? Check out some interesting facts about them in this article.

Cats are just too cute to ignore still. They may be a lot of things but their itty-bitty paws that are very soft to the touch, silky smooth fur that’s comfy as a pillow, and their sadistic yet captivating stare can really make you say “awww” involuntarily. They’re simply the cutest pets to keep around!

So even if they act self-absorbed more than half the time, you still can’t just ignore them – especially when they start rubbing those whiskers on your toes and roll around for a belly rub. They are spoiled little brats; that’s for sure. But then again, what’s so wrong with spoiling them anyway?

How Pets Make A House Feel Like A Home

This is coming from a person who’s lived most of her adult life alone. After I was done with college, I had to move far away from my hometown for work. At first, it was fine. I was too busy earning money to even entertain the pangs of loneliness. However, as time went on, it just simply caught up to me – the emptiness, the lonely feeling of not having anyone to come home to.

There were times when I’d miss my family so bad that I’d cry myself to sleep. However, all that suffering and loneliness came to an end when one special friend decided to come into my life. It was my cat, Sapphire.

I know what you’re going to say: What sort of geek am I to name my cat Sapphire? Well, I’ll spare you the sappy story of how I came up with that name but long story short, I guess I simply have terrible naming sense. Sapphire certainly brought life into my life. Just like the gem, it added shimmer and shine to my dull daily routine. She was my beloved pet. She is my beloved pet, even till now.

Thought you were going to hear some tear-jerking news, weren’t you?

Well, I’m happy to say that my dear pet is alive and doing well! I’m not too old myself so it wasn’t too long ago when I started taking care of her. At the very least, it hasn’t been a decade yet (LOL). However, I was quite aware that Sapphire was getting older and as you may already know, pets don’t live half as long as we humans do. Of course, I would give the world to have her grow old with me. But since I can’t have that (let’s face reality, folks), I’ll settle for the next best thing – and that is for me to grow old with her.

I want my dear pet to enjoy every day of her life. She’s brought so much joy into mine, after all. Although she is a bit of a prima donna, I also find that part of her to be really adorable. To help her age gracefully, I recently had her try an amazing product that greatly improved her mobility and mood: CBD Oil.

What Is CBD Oil?

CBD Oil is a product derived from Cannabis or Marijuana. It’s short for Cannabidiol, one of the 100+ Cannabinoid components of the controversial plant. Because it is but a single cannabinoid, it does not have any traces of THC – or should I say, it has already been isolated from THC. This means that it does not contain any psychoactive properties at all.

This product is manufactured for both humans and animals. In animals like cats, for example, CBD Oil is a well-known muscle relaxant and pain reliever. It has also been found to battle cancer in animals. There are many benefits to having your pets use CBD Oil. I have witnessed the positive effects first-hand with my pet, Sapphire. Recently, my cat would not care to go downstairs if I did not carry her with me. I always wondered why. Turns out, she must’ve suffered from body pains that are natural for aging felines! You can read more about this in websites like https://petcbdcommunity.com/.

After some time of having her use CBD Oil, she seems perkier than usual. She also prances around a lot which is so unlike her in the past year. If you can’t take my word for it, you can always talk to experts and professionals like your local vet! Ask them about what benefits your pet can experience from using Cannabidiol products today!
