The UK social calendar is packed with great events, festivals and sporting competitions throughout the year, but especially during the summer. Wherever you’re based in the UK, there’s something fun to look forward to this summer close by. These are some of the best events taking place around the country this summer season.
Royal Ascot – 18-22 June
Royal Ascot is a hotly anticipated event every year, with thousands attending on a yearly basis to soak up the prestige, glamour and excitement from the thrilling races. Formula 1 Grand Prix – 12-14 July

Notting Hill Carnival – 24-26 August
Each year, thousands descend onto Notting Hill in London for the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival. A heady mix of parades, colourful floats, incredible costumes and music, there’s nothing quite like this carnival. There’s no better place to enjoy a summer atmosphere than here, where visitors can soak up the lively ambiance while enjoying street food and great music at the largest street party in Europe.
Edinburgh Fringe Festival – 2-26 August
The Edinburgh Fringe is one of the largest arts festivals in the world, transforming the city into a lively and expansive venue for spoken word performances, theatre, music and opera. Virtually every type of artistic performance you could think of takes place over the course of August, making it a great way to experience one of Scotland’s best-loved locations and a brilliant way to enjoy the summer.
Proms in the Park – 14 September
Head to Hyde Park for the Last Night of the Proms’ outdoor experience – a culmination of an eight-week summer season of beautiful orchestral and classical music events around London. While tickets to Last Night of the Proms are hard to come by, planning ahead is well worth it – this is the biggest classical music event in the country and a fantastic way to end the summer in one of London’s most iconic parks.
