Traveling with Seniors: How to Have a Vacation with the Whole Family

Family vacations can be amazing experiences and can help you form lasting memories for multiple generations of the whole family. When traveling with senior and elderly relatives, there are some things you should be aware of to ensure they enjoy the trip too. Here are some top tips for traveling with seniors and the elderly on a family vacation.

Choose a Senior Friendly Destination

When you are choosing a place to stay, make sure it is suitable for senior and elderly visitors. This should be one of your priorities when finding accommodation and your destination. Too many steps and stairs, awkwardly arranged public spaces, and small, tight bedrooms can all pose mobility hazards for seniors. Look for accommodation that has senior and elderly-friendly spaces and bedrooms to make your stay easier.

Plan Your Itinerary

Having a schedule to stick to can be very reassuring for elderly tourists. They are comforted knowing what they will be doing and when, and it gives them time to prepare for events and outings. You should get them involved too and use their input to help decide where to go and when. They can have some great ideas as well which can lead to some great family memories from your vacation.

Be Prepared for Their Dietary Needs

Eating on vacation can be challenging for many members of the family. Elderly relatives can not only struggle to find dishes and flavors that they can digest, but they can also struggle to find foods and beverages that they can swallow. Traveling with some SimplyThick to help you change the consistency of foods and beverages is a good idea. These powders can be added to any liquid to make it more palatable to elderly people who have difficulty swallowing some foods and drinks.

Check Your Transportation

Accommodation can present problems for the elderly, but so can transportation. This is especially a concern for elderly travelers who struggle with mobility and use equipment to help them get around. You may need to ensure your transportation plans can accommodate your elderly relative’s walker or rascal scooter. This can prevent a lot of problems on your day of travel, which will be stressful enough.

Use Senior Discounts When Booking

Many travel companies and accommodation offer discounts for senior citizens, and you should remember to take advantage of these when making your bookings. This can help you save a considerable amount of money on your vacation budget which you can use to invest in other areas of your trip. These types of senior discounts can also help pay for any additional costs you incur when making sure your trip is senior-friendly. A first-floor room in a hotel may cost extra, but the senior discount levels the price making it cost the same as any other room.

Traveling with elderly relatives can be a lot of fun. Plan ahead to avoid any pitfalls and senior travelers will enjoy the trip just as much as the young ones. Remember these top tips when you are planning your next vacation with senior family members.

Festivals in Mexico You Need to Experience

Mexico is incredibly beautiful and these events showcase it. Check out these amazing Mexican festivals the next time you’re planning a trip!

Dia de Muertos: 2 November

Contrary to what the festival’s name suggests, Mexico’s Day of the Dead, or Día de Muertos is a celebration of life! Of course, November 1 and 2 are important. While the first is dedicated to children and is called “Unfortunate Days”, the second is dedicated to the deceased. Graves are decorated with flowers; feasts are arranged, and families gather to remember their loved ones.

Independence Day: 16 September

Dia de la Independence is the day when the entire country celebrates the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence. Today, it is celebrated for several weeks as artists put on shows and exhibitions, Mexican music fills the streets, and even parties!

Guelaguetza Festival: 18 or 25 July

In July, the streets of Oaxaca explode with colour. A spectacular spectacle of art, dance, and music, the annual Guelaguetza festival is a wonderful cultural experience, especially for tourists. Since the tickets for the traditional series of the festival are sold in advance, you can plan your trip around this event.

Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe: 12 December

According to legend, the Virgin appeared before Juan Diego, one of the most beloved patron saints of Mexico. The demonstration took place in Mexico City and a church has now been established there. The religious celebration of Día de la Virgen de Guadalupe honours this event.

Las Posadas

Las Posadas: 16 – 24 December

Traditional carols are sung by adults and children, and children’s candlelight processions are the main attractions of the season. Not to mention the delicious food. The best place to enjoy this festival would be any small town in Mexico! They shine like a fairy tale village and provide the best experience.

Cinco de Mayo: 5 May

Another celebration in Mexico that is dedicated to something significant from the past is Cinco de Mayo. It celebrates the anniversary of Mexico’s triumph over France at the Battle of Puebla. This festival has the reputation of being more popular in the United States than in Mexico itself, but it is important.

Son Jarocho Music Festival: 8 February

A unique blend of religion and contemporary music, the Son Jarocho Music Festival is one of the most exciting festivals in Mexico. It takes place in a town called Tlacotalpan, which is located along the Papaloapan River. Legend has it that an image of the Virgin Mary was seen floating on the water here.

Mexican Festival: March

Festival de México brings Mexico City to life as it welcomes many talents, art lovers and the public. It lasts 2 weeks, and many events take place in the city centre.

Dia de la Candelaria: 2 February

On this day, friends and family gather and share sweets that they can eat together or while having fun claiming an online casino welcome bonus or doing anything else they enjoy. What adds to the fun of this festival is the tradition of having all three Kings feast that night. Being one of Mexico’s most beloved festivals, Tamales are a must!

The islands were named by Captain James Cook when he sailed through them on Whitsunday (Pentecost) in 1770. What Are The Benefits of Bilutleie Nice?

See the source image

Nice is a fantastic city to visit. It’s located on the French Riviera and has everything you need if you’re after a good time: beautiful beaches, incredible restaurants and bars, breathtaking views, and fascinating culture. The following are our top ten reasons to visit.

Party at the Carnival of Nice, which occurs every February and is one of the largest in the world. The very first carnival was organized in 1274, but it was not officially recognized until the nineteenth century. About town, there are various activities, including waiter races, cold water swims, and “flower fights” in which a lot of flowers are flung. It’s encouraged to dress up, and it’s a lot of fun. Follow the link for more helpful tips https://www.wikihow.com/Be-a-Good-Tourist.

Here are a couple of reasons why you should visit Nice:

Try a chickpea pancake from France

See the source image

Socca is a popular fast food in the region, prepared in copper pots over high heat. It’s made with chickpea flour, water, and olive oil dumped into a flat pan to create a crispy pancake. It’s a regional delicacy that costs around €3 or €4. If you’d like to sit down, you can try different restaurants around the city, or if you’d like to eat on the go, there are plenty of food joints that offer that as well. After that, try making it yourself. You can find the recipe online.

Take a walk along the entire 7-mile Promenade des Anglais

It is one of France’s most popular routes, stretching from the airport in the west all the way around the Baie des Anges to the castle’s headland in the east. This was the founder of English expatriates in the 19th century who needed a promenade and felt it would be smart to employ all of the city’s beggars after an, especially severe winter. There are several bars and pubs, as well as ice cream stands and beach clubs. Sit in one of the classic blue chairs and simply relax with a good book!

Jazz

https://arts.ufl.edu/site/assets/files/17049/8291929019_499143acbf_o.1840x1036p50x50.jpg

In the 1920s, jazz arrived in Nice, and a slew of American ex-pats who had made the city their home. Like F. Scott Fitzgerald, many people rented large houses and held great parties to forget about the hardships of WWI. There are numerous jazz clubs there, as well as a fantastic jazz festival, or you can explore the Hotel Belles Rives, where the writer wrote all the time. You can also check out the Hotel du Cap that he used as inspiration to write his classic book Tender is the Night. How amazing is that?

You get to walk a mile in the shoes of great authors. WWI ended a long time ago, but it left a mark on every country in Europe. If you are into jazz, then Nice is the city to visit. Therefore, start packing your bags and book a plane ticket right away.

Follow in the Romans’ Footsteps

The city of Cemenelum, which was founded by the Romans, its ruins are now part of the posh Cimiez neighborhood. There was an amphitheater here, as well as thermal baths, which are both commemorated in the Archeology Museum. Take a stroll through the beautiful park and stop for a picnic. Who doesn’t love a good picnic, right?

Admire the period known as ‘La Belle Epoque’

The time period between the First World War in 1914 and the Franco-Prussian War in 1870 gave birth to an era known as ‘La Belle Epoque’ (meaning ‘the beautiful age’) in French history. It was a time when France was going through a lot of cultural and social shifts. It was an extraordinarily positive time, with the belief that anything was probable.

You will encounter large boulevards and magnificent houses that were designed represent this period’s architecture. The Majestic Hotel (the largest), The Grand Hotel (built in 1908), and Queen Victoria’s favorite, the Excelsior Régina Palace, are all worth a visit.

If you love exploring and taking pictures of gorgeous architecture, then you should definitely visit Nice. There are so many things to see and explore, either alone or with someone. Your vacation there will definitely be memorable. One thing you can do is to Leiebil Nice because renting a car enables you to drive anywhere and see all there is to be seen in Nice.

Mesmerizing views

See the source image

There are a few spots where you can witness the spectacular city views as well as the surrounding farmland. Head to Castle Hill in town, where you would relax with a picnic after climbing the stairs. If you feel like going for a stroll, drive to Mont Boron, which is just outside of town and offers beautiful scenery. Nice is such a magical city that everyone needs to visit at least once in their lifetime!

Cannes Film Festival is in full swing

The town is overrun with tourists in May. In the off-season, there are plenty of sights to visit, such as the avenue of stars, that are connected to the city’s film heritage. Arrive shortly after the ‘circus’ has left town, and you can be photographed on the red carpet alongside Angelina Jolie and others!

Miniscule Monaco

Given the size, you can see all of the major attractions in a single day. There’s the palace and Princess Grace’s tomb in the cathedral, in addition to the port with its superyachts. If buying designer clothes is out of your price range, grab a bite to eat at Café de Paris and observe the ‘super cars’ pull up in front of you before heading into Italy.

Take a trip to the (private) beach

Although the beach in Nice is devoid of sand, the cobblestones become increasingly smaller as you travel along the coast. In Antibes, a sandy beach with a cafeteria is located near the port. Otherwise, rent a sun lounger on one of Nice’s beaches for a reasonable price. If you really want to relax and unwind, then a beach is an ideal option!

4 Exceptional Reason Why Bratislava Is A Perfect Choice For A Team Vacation

Do you have a team that you want to take for a vacation? Maybe you want to retreat and discuss some issues or ideas that will enhance your performance. Getting out of the workplace provides the best environment for discussions. However, your success relies on the destination selection. If you pick a venue that does not have the facilities, your goal will become hard to achieve.

A perfect selection of destinations will not only make the retreat fun but also will impact the members’ participation. Slovakia is one of the perfect team vacation destinations. Holding teambuilding in Bratislava can make your mission a success. Here are four reasons why Bratislava is a nice team vacation selection:

Superb facilities and accommodation

No doubt, accommodation is an essential consideration when planning a team vacation. You do not want to be in a destination where people have to live far from each other. A place with facilities and accommodations that support team settlement is a perfect idea. Bratislava is home to team accommodations.

Whether you want a modern or traditional restaurant for your team, you will find it in this city. You will have a wide range of meeting and conference facilities to consider. So, your team will have nice and enjoyable accommodation in Bratislava.

Strategic location

Location is the next aspect you must consider in your team vacation planning. You need a location that is accessible and fit for all members. It would be a disappointing experience if the members have to transverse the country for hours. This aspect can hurt your expected outcome from your retreat.

Bratislava, Slovakia is in a strategic position where it is easy for everyone to arrive on time. The city lies between four airports. Trains and good roads are making it easy to access any venue. So, no wasting time on the road or train.

Amazing natural scenery

The purpose of your team vacation is to draw the participants away from their usual environment. You want them to have a new experience and inspiration. For this reason, you must choose a destination that eliminates the office or workplace-like scenery.

No other place can deliver this aspect than Bratislava. This city has numerous attractions and beautiful sceneries that will not only refresh their mind but also will enhance bonding between them. With mountains, forests, and lakes as well as rivers, your team will enjoy a fresh environment that will pump out ideas from their minds.

Opportunity for numerous team activities

The perfect way of strengthening the bond and working relationship in your team is through team building activities. Bratislava is a city that will serve you a full plate of team-building activities. You can consider hiking in the Tatra Mountains. Dog sledding, bungee jumping, and skiing are other fun activities your team can consider. Taking part in these team activities will boost the team spirit and cooperation.

In a word, Bratislava is a perfect destination for your team. You will have a fun and enjoyable time here. This way, you will realize your targeted objectives for the team vacation.

Alternatives to an Employee Trip Since It Can’t Happen This Year

It’s a good thing to have an employee trip each year. It’s time for everyone to relax and strengthen the bond at the same time. Employees will feel good if the company exerts effort to reward them. Unfortunately, though, long-distance trips aren’t possible this time. Given the pandemic, it’s risky to visit other places. Some companies even have to request everyone to work from home. If these trips don’t happen this year, there are excellent alternatives worth trying.

Monetary bonuses

Instead of using that extra company money to go on a trip, you can distribute it to your employees. At a time of financial uncertainty, receiving unexpected cash is helpful. Your employees will appreciate this huge help, especially those who also have to face a health crisis at home.

Travel farther next year

If you intend to travel within the country this year, next year could be a different story. You can plan to go overseas since you didn’t use the budget this year. By then, it would be more meaningful since everyone wants to travel far. The pandemic cancelled all travel plans, and your employees will appreciate this news.

Health and wellness

Some employees are suffering from mental health issues due to this pandemic. Not being able to interact with others has worsened the problem. The best way to use the budget for the company trip is for health and wellness plans. Anyone can avail of these plans to stay healthy during this challenging time.

Funfair

Organise a fairground hire once things get better. Check out

https://www.wearetricycle.co.uk. It allows everyone to have fun and relax. It achieves the same objective as travelling to other places. The good thing is that employees don’t run the risk of getting infected. Even if it’s a mass gathering, it only involves the people working within the same environment anyway. Anything that can put a smile on the faces of your employees is worth pursuing. Of course, you might have to wait for a while before having this event since there are still regulations against a mass gathering.

In-house team building sessions

When it’s possible to get back to the office again, you can have team building activities. The employees will have a chance to bond and get to know each other. Since it’s only in the office, it will be less expensive. It’s also safer. You can hire someone to facilitate the activity, or you can even organise it within the company. Since this is a cheaper alternative to a group trip, you can still use the extra money for other activities in the future.

We’re still in a difficult situation right now because of this pandemic. However, it will eventually be over. Then, we can pursue whatever plans we postponed. As the business leader, you have to think of ways to keep your employees motivated and to stay on top. It’s a huge challenge, but you have to get through it, so the company stays alive.

Why reviews are essential when you are planning to spend a lot on a trip

According to findings, 83 percent of regular travelers say that reviews play a vital role in making travel decisions. People go on vacations for a limited period, and they want to make that period enjoyable and relaxing by avoiding all kinds of fuss related to food, hotel ambiance, and ticket fares. So, the right idea is to be informed more about traveling to destinations that you are planning to visit. The reviews come from tourists who have experienced their pros and cons. Doing this benefits people in two ways; one they make vacation decisions easy for people, and the other is that it gives the management at these places a chance to improve their quality and maintenance.

Moreover, you can easily judge if a place is worth the amount they are charging, or are there any other similar places that offer the same services at less. Reviews should play a vital role in the decision-making process of your travel plans. People give their reviews and share their experiences in the comment sections of popular tourist recreation spots and hotels. Always give them a thorough reading.

Avoid Unforeseeable Complexities

Everything in life is just a rush these days; from the hectic schedules of work to the rush hour traffics, from picking up kids from school to going to market for groceries, there is no peace. Vacations are a refuge from the exhaustion of a busy, monotonous day to day routine. The idea of a vacation excites you to explore a new place, find peace, and satisfy your need to relax and explore. You will only be happy once you find the perfect vacation spot for you. As Nicholas Roerich has put it beautifully: “Nothing enriches you like a journey”! It would be a disaster if you forgot to pack something essential or went to a place that ruined your overall experience. Be mindful of the weather conditions at your chosen destinations, and pack appropriate gear for activities. Learn about the weather, the clothes you need, and supplies that might be unavailable beforehand by reading user reviews.

Choose the right holiday destination

Choose a holiday destination of your choice, and then read reviews of the people who have already been there. Once you make your choice of a holiday destination, you have to make other arrangements like tickets and hotel bookings. Nobody wants to end up on a vacation that ends up in a bad experience; everyone wants to bring home lots of happiness, freshness, and beautiful memories. Revolutionized information technology makes it easier than ever before. An increasing number of travelers use the internet to seek destination information and read the reviews, opinions, and complaints of travelers who have a better idea of the actual conditions there.

Save money on airfares, hotel bookings, and popular tourist spots

By reading reviews from a variety of people, you are in a better position to know the best value hotels, cheapest airfares, and the most convenient dates on which to travel to the destination. Many sites online offer you to find the most reasonable air fares by searching through millions of flight schedules throughout the world. You can find out about promotions on various tourist spots and when to avail them. Hotel services are something that one finds when he is in that place. The only way to know beforehand about a hotel’s service quality is by reading customer reviews on popular tourist websites.

Packed with wide open spaces and punctuated by breathtaking sunsets, any route you take is going to be unique and memorable. In case you don’t have enough time to drive across the continent, here are the 5 best road trip routes Down Under.

So pack your bags, take those driving lessons, and make sure the old 4WD is in good condition. Get going!

The Great Ocean Road in Victoria

Start your 243-kilometre road trip from Torquay, with the ocean on your side. You’ll see some of Australia’s most astonishing coastline. Your drive will be adorned with sun burnt cliffs, sihpwrecks, and the famous Twelve Apostles. Forbes ranks this route as one of the top seven day trips from Melbourne.

At a leisurely pace, the trip should take you no fewer than 10.5 hours to complete. You may take more time if you decide to stop to ride the waves of the country’s famous surfing beaches.

The Gibb River Road in Western Australia

This 660-kilometre trip will take you approximately six days to complete. You’ll drive your 4WD across the Kimberley region, ending in Wyndham. The absence of seascapes will be compensated for by the amazing wilderness. There are cattle stations, Aboriginal sites, gorges, waterfalls, and rock art. You’ll also be taken on a historical side trip, learning about the pioneers of the area.

From Cairns to Cape York in Queensland

Your over 1000-kilometre Queensland trip will start in Cairns and end in Australia’s northernmost point, Cape York. It will take you around eight days to reach the end of the trip. A 4WD will allow you to explore all the national parks surrounding the Peninsula Developmental Road. Make your way through crocodile-infested river crossings, paying close attention to the rock art formations and rainforests around your route. Make sure you don’t miss the Wet Tropics. It is where World Heritage areas the Reef and Daintree meet.

The East Coast of Tasmania

This 300-kilometre drive can take you five days to finish. You’ll begin the trip from Hobart, following the Tasman Highway. This serene and stunning route through Tasmania’s coast is spiritual. A short detour to Freycinet National Park will be worth it because of the many granite mountains and thriving aviary. You can bring your own vehicle from Melbourne to save on renting costs.

The Great Pacific Drive in New South Wales

The shortest trip on this list at 140 kilometres, the Great Pacific Drive will take you through rainforests and across the Sea Cliff Bridge, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. You’ll pass by Wollongong, Kiama, Shellharbour, and the Shoalhaven. Don’t miss some of NSW’s best cliff faces. Take some time to enjoy the waters. Just remember to bring your swimsuit.

Bonus Trip: The Big Lap

If you do have the time, resources, and even courage to take the Big Lap across Australia, it will be a long and difficult, but exceptionally rewarding. This 15,000-kilomtre trip following Highway One will take you at least six months and a lot of commitment. You’ll pass through coastal roads between Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Hobart. This ultimate road trip will take you from Australia’s major cities all the way to small towns, rainforests, the outback, and pristine beaches. Go from Airlie Beach tours to Western Australian fishing trips and everything in-between.

Taking a road trip is one of the best ways to experience what Australia has to offer. Hopefully, you have the time and inclination to drive through each of the routes in this article. Just make sure your car is ready and you drive safe at night. Enjoy!

Road Trippin’: Your Easy Plan to Exploring Canada

C:\Users\dc2\Downloads\photo-1517044589904-826302db21fe_ixlib=rb-1.2.jpg

You deserve to take a break to maintain a healthy mental well-being. Good mental health enhances your ability to cope with stress and recover from challenges life throws at you. One way to take care of yourself is to go on road trips.

A road trip allows you to take a quick escape from your daily routine and spend quality time with yourself or with your family and friends.

Explore and Discover New Things

A road trip, either alone or with a group of friends, gives you more freedom. You will have full control of your trip, from deciding your departure time to choosing your itinerary and stops. It allows you to stop anytime you see something interesting along the way, as well.

Road trips are also a great opportunity to see natural wonders from a different perspective. You can witness how landscapes change as you drive farther. You’ll also be able to learn about different communities, and engage with locals.

This is a cost-efficient way of travelling, too, especially if you’re in a group. Driving somewhere with your car is more affordable than buying a plane or train tickets for each of you. Your group can also pack as many things as you can fit in your car trunk.

But where will go?

Options for Your Destination

C:\Users\dc2\Downloads\photo-1508693926297-1d61ee3df82a_ixlib=rb-1.2.jpg

Canada is a traveller’s haven. The places to visit are almost limitless. Here are the top three places you shouldn’t miss when you go on a road trip:

  • Vancouver – located in western Canada, the coastal seaport city features endless outdoor activities and delectable food that offers diverse flavors, from Vietnamese to traditional North American cuisines. You can spend your morning skiing and your afternoon at the beach.
  • Kamloops – this location is popular for being the tournament capital of Canada because of the world-class sporting events that happen here each year. The city hosts hiking and biking trails during summer and skiing and snowshoeing in the colder months.
  • St John’s – this destination showcases unique vibes and endless charm. The hilly streets are lined with electrically-colored houses where you can draw inspirations. The city is home to artists, musicians, and small-town heroes.

Of course, you’ll want to make sure your vehicle’s well maintained before exploring Canada. It can’t travel where you want it if the tires blow out or the engine stalls. Take your car to a local garage, get it inspected, and repair what needs repairing. Don’t overlook what may seem like a minor issue; chipped windshield auto glass, for example, may affect how you see the road.

Other Preparations

Getting your car ready isn’t the only thing to do before you go on a road trip across Canada. You’ll also want to spend time on research to give you an idea of what to expect during your trip. Language, for instance, can be a problem. Depending on where you go, not everyone in Canada speaks English. Many speak in French, particularly those in Quebec. Be sure to learn some basic French phrases before you hit the road.

Then, learn the traffic rules. You don’t want to be pulled over because you’ve been overspeeding.

The speed limit on all motorways is normally 100km/hr but it can go up to 120km/hr, depending on where you are. In some provinces, switching your car’s lights on is a requirement even when you’re driving during the daytime.

A road trip is an exhilarating way to manage stress. So prep your vehicle, plan your destinations, and explore the scenic roads.
