How to take good care of your home:

1. Make sure to open your curtains every morning to let sunlight stream into your house

In order to prevent your home from becoming damp or moldy, it’s well worth getting into the habit of opening all of the curtains in your house each morning. If you plan on being home for a few hours it’s also worth opening half of your windows to let fresh air into your home. Which will help your home smell clean and fresh.

2. Make sure to steam clean your carpets on a yearly basis

In order to restore your home’s carpets to a brand new condition, simply hire a professional grade carpet steamer, which you can use to thoroughly clean your home’s carpet. Once you’ve finished steam cleaning your carpet you should notice that your carpet looks several shades lighter and feels like new again as you would have removed a great deal of dirt from your carpet.

3. Clean up any messes which you make straight away

Instead of waiting till the weekend in order to clean up any messes which you make, take a few minutes to clean them up straight away. As the longer you leave a mess, without cleaning it, the more likely it is to permanently damage your home.

4. Purchase a good quality dehumidifier

Not only will purchasing a good quality dehumidifier help you and your family breathe easier but a dehumidifier will also remove any moisture in the air which may cause your home to become damp and moldy.

5. Get into the habit of removing your shoes, every time you step into your home

In order to protect your home’s carpets or wood floors, it’s definitely worth getting into the habit of removing your shoes when you enter your home. As the shoes which you wear outdoors are likely to have been in contact with dirt, mud, and water. If you’re concerned about your feet getting cold, just leave a pair of comfortable slippers near your front door.

Also ensure to ask your guests to take their shoes off when they visit your home, in order to protect your home’s flooring.

6. Make sure to maintain the outside of your home as well as your home’s interior

While it’s definitely important to take good care of the inside of your home, it’s also worth paying attention to the outside of your home too. Make sure to wash your home’s exterior every few months as well as your windows. Also make sure to have your home’s exterior painted every few years so that your home is protected from the elements, which may strip layers off your home’s paint job!

So if you’d love to keep your home in great condition and to protect your home’s value, it’s well worth using all six of the tips above to take good care of your home.
