is a hero to many people here in Mukilteo, Seattle, he is a successful business man with his company Electroimpact and most importantly he is someone who has always given back to the local community. Peter was recently featured in an article by the Mukilteo Herald because of the great work that his sports and business programs are doing in the community and this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of how much he has been helping out. I wanted to write a quick blog post inspired by what Peter is doing, in order to encourage more of you to follow in his footsteps and give back to the community more, and here is why.
Wirth the exception of ind hearted business people like Peter, it has become quite apparent that we are going to have to fend for ourselves in terms of helping the poorest in our communities. Politics has failed us and for all they may campaign about how much they will do in the communities the truth is that action is very different to their words. If we don’t take on the role ourselves then nobody else will.
Could be You
It doesn’t matter how successful you are or how much money that you have in the bank, we are all just a couple of errors away from needing the support of our community. You may think that it couldn’t happen to you but guess what, many people living in poor communities or even on the street used to think the very same thing. There is a certain sense of paying things forward here and if you are able to find it within your heart to help the community, that community will be there for you when and how you need it.
People don’t like to admit it but it does feel good to help people out who are struggling and whilst this should never really be your primary concern, it is a very nice feeling to have. The gratitude on someone’s face when you help them out is very gratifying indeed and it can help to boost your self esteem and your levels of confidence.
Be Part of the Solution
You only have to look on social media to see how obsessed we all are with the problems that we face and other than typing away on a keyboard, the majority of these people are not interested in being a part of the solution. Well you can be part of the solution if you can take the time and the energy and use it to give back to your community and to help people who are in need. The keyboard warriors only like to talk problems, you can be a solution.
If you are able to then giving up your time and whatever you have to help the community could be a very positive thing indeed.
